Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir gently to mix all the ingredients. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil. Place them on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can toast the bread in a toaster or on a grill.
- Once the bread slices are toasted, rub one side of each slice with a garlic clove for extra flavor. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread. Drizzle a little extra olive oil or balsamic vinegar on top if desired.
- Bruschetta is best served fresh while the bread is still crispy. Arrange the bruschetta on a platter and garnish with additional basil leaves for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Toast the bread until crispy to prevent sogginess. The tomato mixture can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
