Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Optional: ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the vegetables by washing and trimming the green beans. Slice the mushrooms into even pieces to ensure they cook uniformly.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and half of the butter. Once the butter melts, add the green beans and sauté for 5-6 minutes until they start to develop some color.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes. The mushrooms will release their moisture and begin to brown slightly.
  4. Push the vegetables to the sides of the skillet and add the remaining butter to the center. Add minced garlic and cook for 30-60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Toss everything together, then add lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the green beans are tender but still crisp.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in fresh parsley. Serve immediately, optionally topped with Parmesan cheese.

Notes

For the best texture, don't overcrowd the skillet. Cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper browning. The high heat is essential for getting that restaurant-style caramelization on both the green beans and mushrooms.
